Getting ideas for my character design, I have started by looking at delicate female characters as inspiration for my design of Lorelei.
The first character that comes to mind when I think of 'delicate' is Aurora from Disney's 'Sleeping Beauty'. Her character shares many traits with Lorelei, she's kind, sweet, trusting and gentle.
Aurora is also the prime model of a stereotypical Princess; she's blonde, tall, slim and beautiful to look at. She sings to animals and doesn't seem to have much on her mind besides falling in love. Lorelei also fits a lot of these traits.
With these aspects in mind, I created this quick sketch of a very Princess-looking Lorelei. However I can already see that this won't work. Although Lorelei is delicate and feminine, she's also incredibly clumsy and wouldn't do well having her hair so loose and having such a billowy skirt. Also, she's been raised by her Father for most of her life and that makes me think that she's had a very prominent male-influence and therefore may see the appeal in male-clothes (though I think she would still maintain some female elements to her outfits).
I may look at Princes as well as Princesses, and maybe even look at certain eras for clothing inspiration for Lorelei.
